Activity

Mentioned regular excursions with local guides on a shared basis (shared with other travelers) Day 1: Arrival El Calafate Upon arrival transfer to the accommodation. Rest of the day at leisure. Day 2: Minitrekking on the Perito Moreno Glacier Depart from El Calafate for Bajo la Sombra port. Once there, you will embark to cross the Rico lake, and disembark at the southwestern coast after 20 minutes of navigation. Then, you will access a refuge, where the guides organize the groups of up to 20 people, and soon a walk by the forest begins to arrive at the glacier. Before accessing the ice, the guides will put the crampons on your shoes. The trekking on the glacier takes approximately one hour and a half during which you will be able to see crevasses, moulins (glacier mills) and small lagoons. The walk difficulty is moderate, on irregular ice surfaces, but firm and safe. Return to the port by boat includes an up-close view of the glacier face. Day 3: Mayo Spirit Trek Depart from El Calafate to Punta Bandera Port, where the navigation begins. The boat sails heading for “Mayo” inlet, to disembark at “Toro” Bay. There, you go for an interpretive walk through the Andean-Patagonian Forest. After reembarking, the navigation continues to see the glaciers of Cerro Mayo and the hanging glacier of Cerro Negro. Then, we disembark again to walk through the forest up to a rock wall. From there, the Hanging Glacier will be observed and we will be astonished by the beauty of a landscape in 360º. Day 4: Cristina Ranch - Canyon of the Fossils After disembarking at the ranch, the ascent begins in a 4×4 to the viewpoint, from where you will have a panoramic view of the Upsala glacier, the descent will be done with a 5-hour trek through the canyon of the fossils. Fossils, where a large concentration of fossils can be seen, a vestige of the last marine aggression. Difficulty level: Medium-High. It is recommended to be in good physical condition. Day 5: El Calafate - El Chaltén Transfer from the hotel in El Calafate to the hotel in El Chalten on a regular bus. After 3 hours traveling we will arrive in the cradle of argentinian trekking, with the famous Fitz Roy Hill and the Torre Hill. Day 6: Laguna Torre Trekking This walk runs through the valley of the Fitz Roy river to its source, the Torre lagoon, always within the National Park. Along its route, the path has several panoramic points that allow you to appreciate Co. Solo, the Adela range and the impressive Torre hill. As progress is made, the Grande and Torre glaciers are discovered. From there, continue along the river for another 500 meters until you reach the Torre lagoon and its impressive view: the Torre glacier and the front of the Grande glacier, the Adela range, the Torre y Mocho hill, the Egger tower, the Standhardt needles, Forked and Four Fingers. Difficulty: Moderate Day 7: Laguna de los tres Trekking The path is repeated from El Chaltén to the Poincenot camp (4 hours), and continues crossing the Blanco River. From here the path continues with an ascending slope of approximately 400 meters of unevenness until the Laguna de los Tres. The path ends at the old ridge of the glacial moraine, with an extraordinary view of the lake and De Los Tres glacier. This is the closest view of the granite wall of Mount Fitz Roy and its outlying spires. Going down the moraine, you can continue along a path that surrounds the lagoon until its mouth, where you can see the desolate Sucia lagoon and its hanging glaciers. Difficulty: Moderate Day 8: El Chaltén - El Calafate Transfer from the hotel in El Chalten to the hotel in El Calafate. Rest of the day at leisure. Day 9: Safari Bike Experience We leave El Calafate in 4×4 vehicles through the valley of Calafate stream. After a 15 km climb, we arrive at “La Sección” a ranch outpost of Estancia 25 de Mayo, where the mountain bikes await us. After some instructions, we start cycling! An excursion that will allow us to sight a variety of fauna: guanacos, foxes, choikes, condors and eagles. Crossing the Valley of Guanacos, and with an imposing view of Verlika and Baguales hills, we arrive at a “chenque” (rock cairn, ancient tehuelche burial site) where we will stop to rest, hydrate and contemplate the Patagonian vastness. Finally, we will return to the ranch outpost to have lunch or dinner before descending to El Calafate in 4×4. Day 10: Departure El Calafate After breakfast, transfer to the airport to board your return flight.
